Happy Pioneer Day!

Yes I'm still here!  Things have been pretty busy lately and I've been trying to get out with my girls while the weather is warm.  I've actually been successful and you can see our trip to a historic farm on Thursday.  :-)  And when I do have a moment to myself, I usually shower, nap, or clean up the house instead of blogging...

And Happy Pioneer Day!
For those of you who don't live in Utah, today is a state holiday where we celebrate the pioneers who trekked into Utah in 1847 fleeing from religious persecution to finally find peace in the Salt Lake Valley.  It's also celebrated among Mormons across the country since many have ancestors who were some of those pioneers.

I personally don't have any relatives that were pioneers, but as a Mormon, I still get to enjoy the heritage of my church and the people who sacrificed so much.  And my husband has tons of ancestors who were pioneers - both sides of his family.  So it's fun to hear the stories of his family and pass those down to our children.

Pioneer Day is a great day for parades, fireworks, BBQs, and family stories.  Here are some fun stats from the mormon.org facebook page.

Take some time to share stories about your heritage with your family and friends!  We all come from somewhere and our ancestors have stories to tell.  If you don't know any, look them up!  There are some great ancestry websites that can help you find where you come from.
