I finally did my first craft since the birth of baby #2! It took a few weeks, but we did it. We, meaning my husband helped in the process.
So when Alan and I got married we bought a bookshelf from Target for our apartment. Within a month or two, there was a flood in the apartment next to us that seeped into our apartment and warped our brand new bookshelf and entertainment center. Sooooo frustrating! Surprisingly, both pieces of furniture survived moving to another apartment and 2 additional years, but the bookcase was about to fall over with our most recent move. It came as two halves in the package when we bought it and the top half was still good so we broke it in half and took the top part with us.
I've been wanting a bookshelf for the Bammer's room for a while and this was the perfect solution. I got an idea from the blog 551 East to paint it white with polka dots.
We had some white spray paint and tried that...but the expresso kept coming through. That was one Saturday. Then we bought some paint and Alan painted it. That was another Saturday. Then it sat in our living room because it had rained for another week and I finally painted on the polka dots.
I just bought small purple and pink acrylic paint that matched the Bammer's room, grabbed 3 circle sizes from lids and bowls in our kitchen, traced them, and painted. And here's the final product!

Oh that turned out really cute!
