Ok I'm at that point after having a baby where my body is done with the freebie weight loss... it's time for me to put some effort in.
After my last pregnancy I had 20 pounds to lose on my own. After counting calories and exercising consistently, I did it! I lost all my weight just to get pregnant the next month...But that's ok! Because that will always be my goal - to lose all the baby weight before I get pregnant again.
And here I am again. This time with 15 pounds to work off on my own. So to kick start that I started running today. Now I am NOT a runner. In fact I hate it. I'm a swimmer. But swimming is a little harder to do with kids and takes more time so I'm going to start jogging again. I went for a 24 minute jog where I jogged/walked 1.5 miles. Yeah that's a 16 minute mile...but I'm ok with that because I haven't really exercised since last summer. Yup I'm one of those women who quits exercising and eats a lot of chocolate when pregnant. :-)
Screen shot of my Nike Plus app. I know it's a sad start, but it's been a while!
Anyway, I'll keep you posted on my progress. And Friday (tomorrow I have a wedding to go to) I'll start calorie counting again on an app called My Fitness Pal. You can check out my posts from how I lost the baby weight the first time here:
And I have to be patient with myself because I know I did a hard and great thing for these little girls and it was all worth it to get them!

My Fitness Pal helped me lose about 15 pounds a year and a half ago. It was quite a wake-up call to actually see the calories I was consuming! I ate healthy, but just too much... it's amazing how the metabolism changes once you stop swimming several hours a day ;) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteKeep it up! I am hoping your motivation will rub off on me. I am 3 years post-baby and still am not back to exercising regularly...I'd like to get back into running. Maybe I'll try the nike app to get me started?
ReplyDeleteYour Nike Plus screen shot drew me in. Like you, I hate running but my Nike Plus gives me that motivation I need because I feel like it makes me accountable to more than just myself, if you are interested you can see my Nike Plus post here: http://whilewearingheels.blogspot.com/2011/12/self-fulfilling-prophecies-new-years.html
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your weight loss, be proud of yourself for making the first step and look at those beautiful girls of yours and know, it was all worth it.
