Ham Porter: Hey, Smalls, you wanna s'more?
Smalls: Some more of what?
Ham Porter: No, do you wanna s'more?
Small: I haven't had anything yet, so how can I have some more of nothing?
Ham Porter: You're killing me Smalls! These are s'more's stuff! Ok, pay attention. First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham. Then you roast the 'mallow. When the 'mallows flaming... you stick it on the chocolate. Then cover with the other end. Then you scarf. Kind of messy, but good! Try some!
Definitely one of my favorite lines from Sandlot!
So I showed you a picture of Lowie's costume before it was finished the other day when I was updating you on the family. And I finally finished them! Remember how I wanted to be super heroes and Alan vetoed it? Well he liked this idea better. And I have to admit it turned out super cute.
WE ARE S'MORES!
Bammer is just two pillows tied on, we're cardboard crackers, and Lowie is the Hershey's chocolate.
And this is how I made Lowie the Hershey Bar!
Using fleece so I wouldn't have to sew hems, I took one of her outfits to get the right size. Then I made a little jumpsuit and sewed around the edges to make a sack.
I also made a little undershirt from an online pattern. I'm sure you can find a good one for you if you search it.
Here's how it looked before I painted Hershey's on it.
I looked up a Hershey Bar image online. Then I cut out a template using an exacto knife and regular copy paper. Then I taped the template on the jumpsuit.
Then I painted the template with regular white acrylic paint and put newspaper in between the jumpsuit to make sure the paint didn't go through.
And here's the final costume!
We love it!

Oh goodness you are all so cute! What a great idea for a family costume. Happy Halloween!

ReplyDeleteSo cute!! And creative! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your family costumes! That is so fun and creative. I missed the boat on those, ever since my daughter was three she's have very specific ideas of what she wanted to be. I should've got her doing that when she was a baby and then maybe she'd be willing to be a team player. I love all the ideas you have on your sidebar too!
